Then and Now

Old wood frame building that served the church for nearly 100 years.

Recent picture of the present facilities and church family.

Brief History of the church
The church first began meeting in 1852 under an oak tree along the south east shore of Lake Thonotosassa.  A branch arbor shelter was later constructed.  The families that began the church were Franklins, Mileys, Stephens, Wilders, Sparkmans, Gallaghers, and Graves.
A log building was later constructed on the present church location. This was followed by a frame building that served the congregation for nearly 100 years. This building was replaced by a block building in 1965.
15 Years with Pastor Tommy Burrus
In September of 1993, the church extended the call to Pastor Tommy Burrus.  This coming September will mark 15 years of his pastorate here.  Our church has grown with him and his family over the last 14+ years.
When he first came, he and Nancy were newly married.  They now have two school-age daughters.
He had previously pastored a church in northern Florida and worked with youth at two other churches before that time.
